Inspiring Entrepreneurship

Ben Buie | 2/23/15

One of my passions is entrepreneurship. A lot of reasons come to mind for this: my Father was an entrepreneur, my Mother always told me to be my own boss, I experienced the joy of bringing people value early in my life, and I believe that entrepreneurship is the answer to many of America’s future problems.

Last Friday was the 1st Year Anniversary of Spark Boulder, the first space for student startups in Colorado. It is hard to believe it has been a year. Fletcher and the team have done an amazing job keeping it alive and thriving amid some pretty challenging circumstances.

I got the privilege of saying a few words (watch below) at the anniversary party. It was a chance for me to continue the short thought I shared last year at the grand opening about believing in students.  This year I focused more on inspiring students to believe in their own abilities as entrepreneurs.

Looking back at my career, I found that the best financial decisions I made were entrepreneurial.

The story below will never make it onto the pages of Entrepreneur Magazine, but that is part of the reason I wanted to share it with would be student entrepreneurs. I haven’t made it big, but I’ve seen the rewards from living entrepreneurial, and other students can too.
